Should swimming be banned when

Miles of newly paved biking trails wind throughout the park. Adult and children’s bikes are available for rent,  for the first hour and  for each additional hour, from May to October. Infant seats are available at no extra charge.Maumee Bay State Park activities include beaches, golf, tennis, volleyball, bike and kayak rentals, shuffleboard, horseshoes, our playground, miles of hiking trails, and indoor or outdoor swimming pools.

At Maumee Bay Lodge, we specialize in providing an unforgettable vacation experience filled with fun for all ages—and all just beyond your lodge room or cottage door! Take a leisurely stroll on our 2 mile boardwalk, or enjoy any of our state-of-the-art recreational facilities. Our fitness rooms, racquetball/wallyball courts, indoor/outdoor swimming pools and more will keep everyone busy. And our children’s programs help keep their young imaginations fresh.

Birding

While you enjoy over 14 miles of paved trails, keep an eye out for bald eagles, great blue herons, white egrets, swans, and several migratory birds including warblers.

Fishing on Lake Erie

Maumee Bay Lodge guests are just steps away from Lake Erie, the “walleye capital of the world.” The lake offers some of the best fishing experiences in the region with catfish, freshwater drum, small mouth bass and yellow perch calling our Great Lake home. A man-made inland lake near the lodge offers additional fishing opportunities.

Enjoy an afternoon float on the lake with our paddleboat and canoe rentals. Rates start at for the first hour and for each additional hour. Must be 18 or over to rent a boat. Lifejackets are required and are available.Exercise

Our fitness room offers a complete line of cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, including treadmills, elliptical and step-climbing machines, and a stationary bike. Free weights and exercise pads are also available. After a workout, be sure to check out our saunas.

Massage Therapist

Cost is $35 + tax for 1/2 hour and $70 + tax for 1 hour. Service is available year-round. Please call the lodge at 419-836-1466 to set up your appointment prior to arrival.

Lobbies, Lobbies and More Lobbies

Over two dozen sitting areas are scattered throughout the property, offering great places for socializing, playing games, or just people watching. Several family-friendly games are available for complimentary use from the front desk. Three large fireplaces offer the perfect setting to relax and enjoy a good book — and there’s even a free lending library in the main lobby.

Swimming Pools and Beaches

Make a splash with our year-round indoor pool (open 7AM–12AM), outdoor pool (9am-9pm Sunday-Thursday and 9am-10pm on Friday/Saturday), and whirlpools. Our indoor pool area also features kid-friendly splash park fixtures. Lake swimming is easily accessible at the inland lake with 1, 500 feet of beachfront, as well as at the nearby shore of Lake Erie.

There are at least seven caches located inside the Maumee Bay State Park and several others in the surrounding area. Navigational units can be rented at the front desk. Educational information about geocaching is available to beginning geocachers.Game Room

The game room offers entertainment for kids of all ages, including pool and table tennis. Adjacent is a party room with tables and chairs, an ideal place to enjoy snacks and pizza. Please visit front desk for reservations.

Court and Outdoor Games

Two beautiful hardwood courts are available for either racquetball or wallyball. Contact the front desk for reservations and equipment rental. Lighted tennis and basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, shuffleboard, and horseshoes court are also available on site .

Just for Kids

During the summer season, our attended recreation area and outdoor playground are always a hit with the younger set. Stick around for the free evening popcorn! Also, be sure to check out our new Soft Play Area, featuring a pirate ship and ocean scene. This area can be used by children of all ages, but during busy periods top priority will be given to children 42” or shorter.

The Trautman Nature Center

Explore the history and nature of Maumee Bay State Park through a variety of interpretive programs at our nature center, located just a few hundred yards from Maumee Bay Lodge. Learn about the park’s history as the site of numerous significant Native American events, and why the Maumee Bay area was once known as the Great Black Swamp.

Entertainment

On selected dates from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the park’s Amphitheater features Saturday night entertainment. These events are free to the public and can include musical groups, magicians and more. All events start at 7:00PM.
